North Carolina Foultry Federation - Executive Director
Job Description
Major Functions and Position Overview:
The Executive Director ("ED") of the North Carolina Poultry Federation is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the Federation, providing member services and relations, including member growth initiatives, and implementing the policies and goals of the Board of Directors. To accomplish the Board's policy agenda, the ED is expected to coordinate efforts with the Federation's government affairs personnel and provide communication with the lobbyist regarding advocacy and planning efforts. The ED is responsible for ensuring the organizational financial stability of the Federation, managing the Federation's staff and employees, maintaining offices and equipment, and broadly speaking, is responsible for managing the affairs of the Federation. The ideal candidate must have extensive experience in the agricultural industry, and a specific understanding of the poultry industry as a whole. Working knowledge or background in poultry is preferred.

Specific Duties:
- Directing and overseeing all Federation activities, including implementation of the mission statement.
- Implementing the policies and decisions made by the Board of Directors and Executive Board.
- Serving as principal contact and spokesman of the Federation.
- Coordinating and attending agricultural events and other promotional opportunities.
- Working with Board President to develop materials for agenda and meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
- Hiring, training, and promoting staff, as needed.
- Overseeing the implementation of communications efforts and marketing programs that promote poultry and the image of the industry.
- Administering the annual budget and ensuring the Federation operates a net profit annually and maintaining a minimum six-month operating reserve.
- Preparing the industry to respond quickly and effectively to crises in areas such as food safety, animal disease and welfare, environmental issues, and trade.
- Conducting educational programs throughout the year, as needed and determined by the Board.
- Developing and implementing programs and protocols that assist members in resolving individual issues with regulatory agencies, local/state governments, and the media.
- Planning, conducting, and administering the annual meeting of members.
- Conducting any special projects or activities at the direction of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
- Maintaining contact and communications with all stakeholder groups to the industry.

Advocacy and Public Affairs
- Coordinating with lobbyist regarding government relations efforts.
- Maintaining government/regulatory contacts and promoting the chicken industry to national, regional, state, and local government officials.
- Maintaining contact with all state universities that work within the poultry/ag. space, including without limitation, the NC State University Prestage Department of Poultry Science.
- Serving as liaison with other poultry and agricultural associations/trade groups and allied business groups.
- Staying up to date and current regarding regulation of the industry.
- Coordination and communication with the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and maintenance of contacts within Department.
- Coordination and communication with all relevant state agencies and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications
The ED for the Federation must possess leadership qualities and a strong knowledge of the poultry industry in North Carolina. Candidates should have experience in the poultry industry in some capacity. Candidates should have experience in leadership roles, with familiarity in strategic planning, advocacy, and organizational management.

Location and Work Schedule
This position will be based at the North Carolina Poultry Federation office located at 4020 Barrett Drive, Suite 102 in Raleigh, NC. This position is expected to be worked from the office the majority of the week with opportunity for work from home flexibility on occasion. Some travel within North Carolina is expected.

Compensation and Benefits
The Executive Director position is a full-time, salaried position and salary is commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits package available.
