NC Poultry Federation Announces 2023 Environmental Award Winners & Board of Directors


Greensboro, NC - The Grandover Resort & Conference Center was the venue for the North Carolina Poultry Federation's Annual Meeting on October 4-6. The 56th Annual Meeting of the Federation included the election of the 2023-24 Board of Directors, the Awards Banquet with a keynote address by Ray Starling of the North Carolina Chamber as well as both a golf and sporting clays tournament.

Outgoing NCPF President Scott Vanhoy presented the 2023 Environmental Award to Tommy & Amanda Williamson of Williamson Farm of Mount Gilead, NC - a broiler operation contracting with Perdue Farms. Second runner up was presented to Jerry & Melanie Storey of Jerry Storey Farm of Murfreesboro, NC- a broiler operation contracting with Perdue-Lewiston. Accepting on behalf of Jerry Storey Farm was Terry Maness of Perdue Farms. First runner up was presented to Sidney & Crystal Whitaker and Steven & Catrena Whitaker of Mountain View Poultry of Mount Airy, NC- a broiler producer for Wayne Sanderson Farms.

In addition to recognizing growers for environmental excellence, the NC Poultry Federation also presented Henry Jones, Jr of the Jordan Price Law Firm of Raleigh, NC with the Distinguished Service Award. The Past President's Award was presented to Scott Vanhoy of Perdue Farms by NCPF Executive Director Robert Ford.

The 2023-24 Executive Board members are Marty Parsons of Tyson Foods, President; Clay Lindley of Perdue Farms, 1st Vice President; Cowan Johnson of House of Raeford, 2nd Vice President; Timothy Thomas of Butterball, LLC, Secretary-Treasurer; and Scott Vanhoy of Perdue Farms, Immediate Past President.

Board Members for 2023-24 include: Chandler Adams representing the Carolina Feed Association, David Anderson of Anderson Consulting, Andrew Boyles of Tyson Foods; Jacob Caviness representing the Breeder Hatchery Association, Tommy Furlough of Cal-Maine Foods, Jeff Hancock of Unicon, Todd Huneycutt of Huneycutt Brothers LP, Willie Jervis of Braswell Family Farms, Bob Johnson of House of Raeford, Terry Maness of Perdue Foods, Bill Massey of Mountaire Farms, Dr. Armando Mirande of Mountaire Farms, Ronnie Parker of Circle-S-Ranch, Jon Pope of Jonathan Pope Farms, Tommy Porter, Jr. of Porter Farms, Scott Prestage of Prestage Farms, Charles Rigdon of Case Farms, Alex Simpson of Simpson's Eggs, Connie Smith of Darling Ingredients, Tim Thomas or Butterball, Mark Whitt of International Paper, Richard Williams of Pilgrim's Pride and Matthew Wooten of Wayne-Sanderson Farms.

Golf Tournament Champions were Ben Edwards and Michael Clarke and Runner-ups were Allen O'Neal and Logan O'Neal. Sporting Clays Tournament winners were Davey Baucom (1st), Eli Purvis (2nd) and James Allen Lee (3rd).
